Timbers Academy midfielder Daniel Nuñez received his first international call-up, and will join the Mexico U-17 National Team for a training camp June 23-27 in Mexico City.
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Timbers Academy just wrapped up their 2023-24 season in the MLS NEXT Cup playoffs in Nashville. But the season isn’t over just yet for Timbers Academy midfielder Daniel Nuñez.
On Friday, the Timbers U-17 standout learned that he had been called into training camp with the Mexico U-17 National Team.
Under head coach Carlos Cariño, the Mexico U-17s will hold a week-long camp from June 23-27 at the federation’s performance center in Mexico City. As part of the camp, the U-17s will play a friendly against third-division club Piedad Imperial on Thursday, June 27.
Nuñez is one of just four players from MLS academies called into Mexico’s U-17 camp.
Surrounded by his coaches and teammates, Nuñez learned of his call-up.
