Portland set to host Colorado Rapids in season opener at Providence Park on Feb. 24
PORTLAND, Ore. – Major League Soccer today announced the full 34-game, 2024 regular season schedule for the Portland Timbers. Portland will open its 14th MLS campaign against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Providence Park; kickoff is set for 7:30pm PT.
Every Timbers and MLS match in the 2024 season will be streamed live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish. MLS Season Pass also features an array of exclusive on-demand content in addition to MLS 360, the four-hour live whip-around show providing live look-ins from every match alongside expert analysis and discussion, and MLS Wrap-Up, featuring full recaps and postgame coverage of all the matchday action in English and Spanish. Additionally, Portland will have six nationally broadcasted matches on FOX and FS1.
The Timbers will square off against six Eastern Conference opponents in the 2024 campaign – three at home (D.C. United, Nashville SC, Philadelphia Union) and three on the road (Charlotte FC, Columbus Crew, New York City FC). Notably, Portland will face the 2022 expansion-side Charlotte FC for the first time in club history on May 4 at Bank of America Stadium.
For a second consecutive MLS campaign, the league will pause regular season play in the summer alongside LIGA MX for teams to compete in the 2024 Leagues Cup. Kicking off Friday, July 26 with the tournament final on Sunday, August 25, the official Concacaf tournament will maintain its three berths to Concacaf Champions Cup, with the Leagues Cup champion qualifying directly to the Round of 16.
Portland will match up against Cascadia rivals Seattle Sounders FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC three times each in the 2024 season, hosting Seattle twice (May 12, Aug. 31) and Vancouver once (June 22). Notably, the Timbers will face Sounders FC at Lumen Field on Decision Day. Decision Day 2024 – the final matchday of the MLS regular season with postseason implications on the line – is set for Saturday, October 19. The slate of 14 matches will feature all Eastern Conference matches kicking off at 3pm PT and all Western Conference matches beginning at 6pm PT, respectively on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
The Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs will culminate in Major League Soccer’s championship match, MLS Cup presented by Audi, Saturday, December 7, with hosting rights awarded to the competing team with the better regular season record.
2024 Annual Memberships are on sale now at www.timbers.com/tickets. Smaller ticket packages and single match sales will be available in January.
