The 2015 NCAA men’s soccer regular season has concluded with many teams entering the postseason chase for an NCAA College Cup Championship. Portland Timbers Academy alumni feature on six teams that earned a playoff berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Ten Timbers Academy alumni are featured in the NCAA Tournament, including Foster Langsdorf and Sam Werner (Stanford), Anthony Macchione, Niko De Vera and Jesse Garcia-Aguilar (Akron), Peter Prescott and Stefan Wutte (Creighton), Edson Martinez (Georgetown), Gen Kimura (Santa Clara) and Collin Partee (Utah Valley).
Four of the six teams earned a first-round bye in NCAA Tournament play including No. 3-seed Georgetown, No. 4-seed Akron, No. 8-seed Stanford and No. 12-seed Creighton.
Last week saw numerous teams with Timbers Academy alumni clinch conference championships with Stanford (Pac-12), Georgetown (Big East) and Akron (Mid-American) all claiming outright titles while Santa Clara earned a share of the West Coast Conference (WCC) championship following a 3-0 win against San Diego.
In the upcoming week, Partee and Utah Valley face SMU while Kimura and Santa Clara will take on CSU Fullerton in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Nov. 19.
