The 2015 college men’s soccer regular season is just one week and a few games away from the postseason with many teams approaching conference tournament play. Portland Timbers Academy alumni feature on four teams that are ranked in the NCAA Top 10.
Last week saw No. 7-ranked Georgetown earn a 2-1 upset victory over then No. 1-ranked Creighton. Timbers Academy alumni forward Peter Prescott entered the match as a second-half substitute, but was unable to help the Bluejays hold off the Hoyas. With the win, Georgetown captured the Big East regular-season title while moving up to No. 6 in the NCAA rankings. Creighton remains near the top at No. 3.
Additionally, Stanford midfielder Sam Werner recorded his first goal of the season as the No. 4-ranked Cardinal suffered a 2-1 loss against Washington on Nov. 2.
The upcoming week will see No. 4-ranked Stanford take on No. 24-ranked UCLA with Werner and fellow Timbers Academy forward Foster Langsdorf heavily featured with the top-ranked Cardinal squad.
