Timbers Flores, Guzmán, Paredes and Polo called in for international duty

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers midfielders Andrés Flores, David Guzmán, Cristhian Paredes and Andy Polo have been called up by their respective countries for national team camp during the international break.


Flores has been called in by El Salvador for a Concacaf Nations League qualifying match against Barbados on Oct. 13. Guzmán will join Costa Rica for friendlies against Mexico on Oct. 11 and Colombia on Oct. 16, while Polo has been called in for friendly matches against Chile on Oct. 12 and the United States on Oct. 16. Paredes will join Paraguay for their training camp. 


All four players will return to the team ahead of Portland’s regular-season home finale against Real Salt Lake at Providence Park on Oct. 21. 


Flores, 28, has earned 60 caps for El Salvador since making his debut in 2010. El Salvador will take on Barbados at Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador, El Salvador, on Saturday, Oct. 13; kickoff is set for 6 p.m. (Pacific). 


Guzmán, 28, and Costa Rica will face Mexico at Estadio Universitario in San Nicolás de los Garza, Mexico, on Thursday, Oct. 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m. (Pacific). Five days later, Costa Rica will face off against Colombia on Tuesday, Oct. 16. 


Receiving his first call-up since being named to Peru’s 2018 FIFA World Cup roster, Polo, 24, and Peru will face Chile at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Fla., on Friday, Oct. 12, beginning at 5:30 p.m. (Pacific). Four days later, Peru will take on the United States at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn., on Tuesday, Oct. 16; kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. (Pacific). 


Paredes, 20, has earned one cap for the Paraguay Men’s National Team, coming on as a second-half substitute in a friendly against France on June 2, 2017.
