Ivacic recorded his sixth clean sheet, helping Portland to a 1-0 home win over Minnesota United FC on Sept. 10
PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic was named to the MLS Team of the Week for week 30, the league announced today. The goalkeeper recorded his sixth shutout of the 2022 campaign on Saturday night to help Portland to a 1-0 victory against Minnesota United FC on Sept. 10.
Ivacic, 28, recorded five saves in the match for the ninth time in the season. The Slovenian native has made 103 saves this campaign, which is tied for the most in MLS with San Jose’s JT Marcinkoswki. The clean sheet helped the Timbers earn their fourth consecutive victory, which is the second-longest active winning streak in MLS behind only the Philadelphia Union (5). Notably, Portland is unbeaten in its last nine home matches with a record of 6-0-3, outscoring its opponents 15-7 during that stretch.
The Timbers travel for a road match against Columbus Crew SC on Sunday, Sept. 18, at Lower.com Field. The match kicks off at 10 a.m. (Pacific) with a national broadcast on ESPN and local radio broadcasts on 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
