PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers will host Minnesota United FC in the first round of the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs on Nov. 21 at 2:30 p.m. (Pacific), the league announced today. The match will feature a national broadcast on ESPN and ESPN Deportes with radio broadcasts on 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
This season marks Portland’s fifth consecutive trip to the playoffs, and the seventh time (2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021) in the club’s MLS history. Notably, head coach Giovanni Savarese has gone to the playoffs in each of his four seasons with the club and is the only head coach in Portland history to record consecutive postseason appearances.
The Timbers capped off the regular season with a 3-0 win over Austin FC on Sunday, Nov. 7 at Providence Park. It was Portland’s 17th victory of the 2021 campaign and a single-season club record for wins in the MLS era.
Tickets for Sunday’s match will go on sale Tuesday, Nov. 16, and Annual Members will have until Friday, Nov. 12, to opt out of purchasing their seats for the playoffs. For more information, visit timbers.com.
