PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers Reserves will play the University of Portland in a scrimmage Wednesday, April 24, at Merlo Field on the University of Portland campus as part of the college team’s spring schedule, it was announced today. Kickoff is 7 p.m. (Pacific).
Admission to the scrimmage is free, with a suggested donation at the door benefitting the Providence Heart and Vascular Institute’s Play Smart Young Heart Screening program. The program offers free heart screenings for youth ages 12-18 along with informational resources about sudden cardiac arrest and heart disease prevention.
The Timbers roster features two former University of Portland standouts in midfielder Steven Evans and defender Ryan Kawulok. The Timbers Reserves are currently in first place in the MLS Reserve League’s West Division with a record of 3-1-0 (9pts) through the first four games of the season.
