Timbers to host community event 'Rose City Road Trip' presented by Providence

Timbers players set to visit hospital and conduct free youth soccer clinic in Seaside, Ore., on July 12

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers will host the community event ‘Rose City Road Trip’ presented by Providence in Seaside, Oregon, on July 12. After taking a hiatus due to the pandemic, Rose City Road Trip returns for its ninth-annual edition and will include a hospital visit and free youth soccer clinic at the coast.

The Rose City Road Trip will kick off on July 12 with a group of Timbers players and club mascot Timber Joey visiting with patients at Providence Seaside Hospital. All are invited to a community meet-and-greet and autograph session at Sunset Empire Parks and Recreation’s Broadway Fields from 4-4:30 p.m. The Rose City Road Trip will conclude with a free youth soccer clinic at Broadway Fields from 4:30-6:30 p.m. (Pacific).

“At Providence Seaside we’re proud to promote health and wellness and welcome the Portland Timbers to our community to help keep kids active with the free soccer clinic,” says Rebecca Coplin, Providence Seaside Hospital’s chief executive. “We’re grateful to the Timbers for including our community in what’s sure to be a fun day for all.”

The clinic is free and open to the public, and participants must pre-register online at 2023 Rose City Road Trip Registration Form.

This year marks the club’s ninth edition of the Rose City Road Trip. In all, the Timbers have offered rural camps in Klamath Falls, Salem, Eugene/Springfield, Bend, Hood River, Astoria, Medford, Newberg, Pendleton, Coos Bay, The Dalles, Corvallis, Seaside, Warrenton and Vancouver, Wash.
