PORTLAND, Ore. – Goals from Brian Fernandez, Sebastián Blanco and Jorge Moreira saw the Portland Timbers defeat the LA Galaxy 4-0 Wednesday night at Providence Park in the Round of 16 of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
With the win, Portland advances to the quarterfinals of the tournament and will face the winner of Thursday's match between Los Angeles FC and the San Jose Earthquakes. Date and opponent to be announced at a later date.

10' - SAVE (POR) - A diagonal ball over the top found LA's Emmanuel Boateng on the left side. He darted back inside and fired a shot that Timbers goalkeeper Steve Clark knocked down and covered after getting help from defender Jorge Moreira.
18' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland defender Jorge Villafaña lofted a ball from the left side to the far post that midfielder Tomás Conechny headed back to Cristhian Paredes at the top of the six-yard box who flicked it on frame but the shot was saved by LA 'keeper Matt Lampson.
28' - OWN GOAL (POR) - Portland went out to a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute when Conechny served in a free kick from the left side that saw Brian Fernandez make a near post run and flick on. Galaxy midfielder Perry Kitchen tried to block it but it deflected off his foot and the back of the net for an own goal.
34' - GOAL (POR) - Six minutes later, the Timbers doubled their lead. Sebastián Blanco, inside his own end, pinged a perfect ball over the top to forward Jeremy Ebobisse, breaking through LA's centerbacks. As Lampson came off his line, Ebobisse chipped it up and over, and while LA defender Dave Romney tried a clearance, Fernandez finished his run to knock it in near the left post.
37' - GOAL (POR) - The Timbers continued to pour it on with Blanco scoring a left-footed golazo in the 37th minute to make it 3-0.
40' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland's Villafaña carried the ball to the Galaxy endline, sent a cross into the mixer that Ebobisse jumped to head on frame, forcing a fingertip save from Lampson to tip over the crossbar.
73' - CHANCE (POR) - Moreira crossed a ball in from the right side that found the sprinting Conechny but his shot on goal was stopped by Lampson.
82' - GOAL (POR) - In a pretty 20-pass sequence by the Timbers, Ebobisse held the ball up and sprayed it out wide left to Fernandez. Fernandez then skipped a ball along the edge of the 18-yard box to Moreira on the far right who one-timed his shot inside the near post for at 4-0 Portland lead.
86' - SAVE (POR) - LA's Ethan Zubak snuck past the Timbers back line with a point-blank shot that Clark saved. The Galaxy's follow-up shot went off the right post before Diego Chara cleared it to s safety.
