Key plays
Skipping past a defender, midfielder Marvin Loría’s long-range attempt in the 30th minute was fired over the crossbar.

Just before halftime, Timbers Academy midfielder Carlos Anguiano dribbled past two defenders on the left edge of the penalty area, and picked out Jack Barmby in the center of the box. Taking a touch, Barmby back-heeled a pass to midfielder Andre Lewis, whose shot missed to the right of the post in the 40th minute.

Five minutes into the start of the second half, defender Nathan Smith delivered a cross into the center of the box to Anguiano, whose leaping header missed wide past the post.

In the 72nd minute, Loría’s shot from the edge of the penalty area was curled over the crossbar. Later, Loría’s shot at the near post was saved by Saint Louis goalkeeper Tomas Gomez in the 85th minute.

Continuing on the attack, LorĂa was released down the left wing by second-half substitute Augustine Williams, but his shot from a tight angle inside the penalty area was fired over the crossbar in the 88th minute. One minute later, a failed clearance by a Saint Louis defender in the penalty area fell to Williams, but his bicycle attempt missed over the crossbar.

T2 scored the game-winning goal in the 93rd minute after Zambrano threaded a long pass behind Saint Louis FC’s backline into the path of Arboleda, whose one-timed finish from the left edge of the penalty area snuck under Gomez and rolled into the back of the net.

Postgame Quote Sheet
T2 Head Coach Cameron Knowles

General thoughts on the match…
“It was a good performance from our guys to weather the storm a little bit and then to take an opportunity right there at the end of the game. We had our hands full with what they threw at us. They had a lot of possession, a lot of shots that we had to defend and we had to defend a lot of set pieces. Credit to the guys for weathering the storm and finding that moment at the end to secure all three points.”

On the team earning its 10th clean sheet of the season…
“I think Kendall [McIntosh] and everybody in front of him [did well]. Shutouts are very much a team effort, so it’s a credit to the entire team. We knew that they were going to be a very dangerous team on set pieces and that was identified by the staff. Adin [Brown] and Andrew [Gregor] worked really hard with the group this week to make sure that we were buttoned up on set pieces. It really is a collective effort that goes into getting that shutout.”

On the upcoming match against Tulsa Roughnecks FC…
“Reset and refocus. At this time of year, it’s important to just take it one game at a time. You can’t look too far forward. We’ll go through our normal process, reflect on this game and then we’ll build towards next week’s game.”
