USWNT opens Brasilia Tournament with 1-1 draw against China PR

The U.S. Women’s National Team opened the International Tournament of Brasilia on Wednesday afternoon against China PR, playing to a 1-1 draw at the Mané Garrincha Stadium in Brasilia, Brazil. The draw improved the United States record of 32-8-13 all-time against China PR.


Coming off a strong showing at the 2014 Women’s CONCACAF Championships, Thorns FC’s Tobin Heath earned her 82nd cap as she started and played the first half for the United States. Alex Morgan was on the bench as an available sub but did not feature.

Carli Lloyd opened the scoring to give the United States a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute as she connected with Megan Rapinoe’s cross from close range. China PR equalized in the 67th minute through Hang Peng by putting its only shot in the match in the back of the net.
