Wambach’s first three goals were all scored with her head, while Carli Lloyd added her fifth goal of the tournament to give the United States a comfortable lead at the half. For good measure, Wambach chipped the Costa Rican goalkeeper in the 71st minute for her fourth goal of the night.
Thorns FC midfielder Tobin Heath made her fourth consecutive appearance in the tournament, entering as a second-half sub, and made an immediate impact once again linking up on the left side with defender Meghan Klingenberg before delivering a pinpoint accurate cross into the box for Sydney Leroux who buried it for the team's final goal on the night. It was Heath's second assist in as many games and she finished the tournament with two goals and two assists in four matches (three starts).
In five games, the United States outscored its opponents 21-0, while a total of nine different players scored a goal. Wambach finished the tournament with seven goals to earn the Golden Boot. Lloyd, who finished the tournament with five goals and four assists, was awarded the Golden Ball as the tournament’s top player, while Hope Solo was the Golden Glove winner, posting four shutouts.
