For a fourth straight match, the U.S. Women's National Team's defense was strong and the attack produced a critical goal to help the team advance at the FIFA Women's World Cup, posting a 1-0 win against China to advance to the semis.
Thorns FC midfielder Tobin Heath logged 90 minutes for second consecutive match, earning her third consecutive start, while forward Alex Morgan made her third straight start as well and played 81 minutes in the match.
The defense registered it's fourth consecutive shutout of the tournament and has set a FIFA Women's World Cup record with 423 consecutive scoreless minutes. On top of that it was midifielder Carli Lloyd who scored the eventual game winner with a powerful header in the 51st minute of the match off a cross from defender Julie Johnston.
With the win, it sets up a monumental 1 vs. 2 matchup as the No. 2-ranked USWNT will square off against the No. 1 team in the world, Germany, for the right to go to the FIFA Women's World Cup Final. The semifinal match is set for Tuesday, June 30, at 4 p.m. (Pacific) on FOX.
