Boyd, the Scottish Premier League’s all-time leading scorer, was signed Jan. 30, 2012, as a Designated Player. One of the most prolific strikers in Scottish football, Boyd scored 164 goals in 296 league appearances in the Scot­tish Premier League with clubs Kilmarnock FC (2000-05) and Rangers FC (2006-10). Boyd netted 101 goals in league play during his time with Rangers, and is a four-time win­ner of the SPL’s goal-scoring title. His career totals since 2000 include 176 goals in 335 career league matches, playing in the top leagues of Scotland, England and Turkey.

2012: Finished his first season with Portland as the club’s 2012 Golden Boot winner, scoring seven goals ...Played in 26 matches (22 starts) during the season, leading the club in both shots (68) and shots on goal (28) ... Made his MLS debut March 12 in the Timbers’ season opener, scoring the game-winning goal in the 66th minute of a 3-1 victory over Philadelphia at JELD-WEN Field ... His glancing header was named the MLS AT&T Goal of the Week for Week 1 ... Factored in seven consecutive goals scored from April 7-June 24, scoring four goals, assisting one and initiating plays that led to a pair of own goals by Sporting Kansas City (April 21) and Chicago (May 20) ... 2011-12: Completed a transfer from Middlesbrough to Turkish Süper Lig club Eskisehirspor on July 8, 2011 … Played briefly in Turkey’s top flight before signing with the Portland Timbers.

2010-11: Signed with England’s Middlesbrough in July 2010 after playing 10 seasons in the Scottish Premier League … Made 27 league appearances (18 starts) and ranked third among team leaders in goals with six … Came on as a sub in a 2-1 loss to Millwall in Carling Cup fixture Aug. 24, 2010 … Started and played 83 minutes of a 2-1 loss to Burton Albion in Boro’s lone FA Cup match of the season Jan. 8, 2011 … Scored his 200th career goal across all competitions on Feb. 1, 2011, finding the back of the net in the eighth minute of a 2-0 win over Scunthorpe United … Joined Championship rival Nottingham Forest on loan March 8, 2011, and stayed with the club for the re­mainder of the season … Tallied six goals in just 10 games with Forest, helping the club finish sixth in the table and qualify for the Championship promotion playoff … Played in both playoff matches against Swansea City; Nottingham Forest fell 3-1 in the aggregate series and missed promo­tion to the Premier League.

2005-06: Claimed his first SPL scoring title, scoring a career-high 32 goals over the course of the season, split­ting the campaign with clubs Kilmarnock and Rangers … Started the season with Kilmarnock, tallying 15 goals in 19 league games … In Scottish League Cup play, scored twice in a 3-2 loss to Dunfermline Athletic on Sept. 20, 2005 … Scored the game-winning goal in his final match with Kil­marnock, securing a 2-1 win over Farkirk on Dec. 17, 2005 … In total, scored 63 times in 153 league games during his time with Kilmarnock … Made the move to Rangers during the January transfer window … In 17 league games with Rangers, scored 15 goals … Recorded a hat trick in his Rangers debut on Jan. 7, 2006, in a 5-0 win over Peterhead in a Scottish Cup fixture … Finished the season as the leading scorer for both Kilmarnock and Rangers.

2003-04: Was Kilmarnock’s leading scorer for a second straight season, tallying 15 goals in 37 league matches … Also played in two Scottish Cup matches and a Scottish League Cup fixture over the course of the season.

2002-03: Had a breakout season with Kilmarnock, scoring 12 times in 38 league appearances … His 12 goals paced the club … At season’s end, was named the club’s Young Player of the Year, after helping the side to a fourth-place finish in the Scottish Premier League with 57 points.

2001-02: Appeared in 28 matches during the season and scored four goals in league play for Kilmarnock … Competed in the 2001-02 UEFA Cup, now called Europa League … Made his Europa League tournament debut Aug. 23, 2001, in a 1-0 win over Irish side Glenavon.

2000-01: Made his professional debut as a teenager, playing in one match with Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock during the season … Was part of a Kilmarnock squad that finished as the runner-up in the 2000-01 Scot­tish League Cup.

INTERNATIONAL: Has seven goals to his credit in 18 appearances with the Scotland National Team … Scored twice in his senior team debut May 11, 2006, as part of Scotland’s 5-1 win over Bulgaria in the 2006 Kirin Cup in Japan … Of his 18 caps, 10 have come in 2008 UEFA Eu­ropean Championship qualifiers, recording a brace against the Faroe Islands (Sept. 2, 2006) and scoring against Georgia (March 24, 2007) and Lithuania (Sept. 8, 2007) … His last appearance for Scotland was Sept. 7, 2010, against Liechtenstein, one of three international appearances in 2010 … Was a regular for the Scotland U-21 National Team from 2004-05, earning seven caps and scoring a goal in a 4-1 loss to Hungary on Aug. 18, 2004 … Played in three 2006 UEFA U-21 European Championship qualifiers, facing Norway, Moldova and Italy … Also represented Scotland at the U-19 and U-16 levels … Played his first UEFA match with the Scotland U-16 National Team on March 14, 2000, in a 1-1 draw against Austria in a qualifier for the UEFA European U-16 Championship.
