DefenderChabala joined the Timbers midway through their inaugural MLS season. He was acquired, along with defender Lovel Palmer, from the Houston Dynamo in exchange for midfielder Adam Moffat and allocation money on July 21, 2011. Chabala was a fourth-round pick (44th overall) in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft by Houston out of the University of Washington.
