Timbers announce roster status ahead of 2025 season
Timbers pick up contract option on Hunter Sulte and decline 2025 contract options on Tega Ikoba, Marvin Loría and Mason Toye
ACQUIRED: On February 25, 2023 as a free agent to a one-year deal with a club option for the 2024 season. Miller and the club agreed to a new contract on January 9, 2024, a two-year deal that keeps the defender in Portland through 2025.
2024: Logged his 200th MLS appearance on Aug. 31 against Seattle... Scored his first career MLS goal on April 7, the game-tying goal against SKC... Recorded an assist against Vancouver on March 30... Tallied his first assist of the season against DC on March 2... Started in the club’s first match of the season, helping the team to a 4-1 win against Colorado.
2023: Tallied his first goal contribution for the Timbers on Sept. 2, an assist against Seattle... Earned his first start on Apr. 1 at Dallas... Made his Portland debut as a sub on Mar. 25 against LA Galaxy.
CAREER: Eric Miller spent past three seasons with Nashville SC. In the 2022 campaign, Miller played in 24 matches, starting 14 for Nashville. Across his nine-year career, the veteran defender has made 165 MLS appearances (136 starts), including playoffs.
Originally drafted by the Montreal Impact as the fifth overall pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, Miller has had stints with Montreal (2014-15), Colorado Rapids (2016-17), Minnesota United (2018-19), New York City FC (2019) and Nashville (2020-22).
Miller began his professional career in the USL second division semi-pro league with the Portland Timbers U23s in 2012 while attending and playing for Creighton University.
