PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC today announced that the club has signed forward Hanna Terry. Per league and club policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
Terry, 23, made her Thorns FC debut as an amateur player against the Washington Spirit on June 15 as a second-half substitute. Before joining Thorns FC, Terry was named to the Sweden U-23 Women’s National Team roster for the 2013 Four Nations Tournament in La Manga, Spain, from Feb. 28 – March 4, 2013.
“Hanna has all the ingredients to become an impact player in the league: speed, skill, finishing ability and work ethic,” said Thorns FC head coach Paul Riley. “She is an investment for the future and a player that could help us in the ‘business’ part of the season.”
A three-year starter at Northeastern University (2011-13), Terry helped lead the Huskies to a NCAA Tournament berth in 2013 as well as a Colonial Athletic Conference (CAA) title. She was named the Most Outstanding Player of the CAA Championships, scoring two goals and tallying an assist. A two-time first-team All-CAA selection, Terry finished her career with seven goals and 14 assists, ranking her fourth all-time in Northeastern history in assists.
