It was another full house at Providence Park – a sellout – for the Portland Timbers’ match against the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday. But Daena and her family were excited for the arrival of one particular guest in a stadium that holds more than 20,000 fans. The winners of a contest by Tire Factory, she and her family were treated to a one-of-a-kind experience as they were able to watch the match with Thorns FC’s Mana Shim.
“It was exciting to get to meet one of the players,” said Daena, a Thorns season ticket holder. “Not just meet her, but sit around and talk with her – what a great night for a game.”
Their VIP experience came complete with field seats and the four were treated to an exciting match and a big win for the Timbers just feet from the pitch. For Daena, sitting next to a professional soccer player offered the opportunity for some insight to the game.
“It was really fun to watch [the game with] someone who is so knowledgeable about soccer and can point out things,” added Daena.
This wasn’t just another Wednesday night for Daena and her family. Getting to meet and get to know better one of the players they support on match days, while enjoying a front row seat to a Timbers match, was another treasured memory made at Providence Park.
