PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers fell 4-1 to Real Salt Lake Wednesday night at Providence Park in front of a crowd of 21,144. The match included three red cards–two for Portland, one for Real Salt Lake–leaving the home side with nine players at the end of the match and RSL with 10. Timbers midfielder Jack Barmby scored the lone goal for Portland in second half stoppage time.

10' - GOAL (RSL) - Real Salt Lake midfielder Kyle Beckerman scored with a shot from distance to put the visitors up 1-0.
15' - CHANCE (POR) - The Timbers came forward in attack with midfielder Diego Valeri darting around RSL defenders. He slipped a ball back to Sebastián Blanco who then chipped a nice ball that floated to Dairon Asprilla on the right post. Asprilla hit it on frame but RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando narrowly tipped it away.
17' - SAVE (POR) - Portland goalkeeper Jake Gleeson made a diving stop on a winding shot from RSL's Joao Plata.
27' - TACKLE (POR) - As RSL's Plata darted in on attack, Portland forward Fanendo Adi came back to help on defense with a timely and crunching tackle to deny Plata's shooting opportunity.
34' - SAVE (POR) - Gleeson was again called into action when RSL's Jefferson Savarino made a diagonal run to split the Timbers defense. The RSL midfielder received the ball from Plata and went 1v1 with Gleeson who came off his line to deny the shot.
50' - GOAL (RSL) - Referee Baldomero Toledo whistled for a penalty after a tangle between Asprilla and Savarino resulted in the RSL man going down in the box. Plata stepped to the spot and converted past Gleeson into the lower right corner for a 2-0 RSL lead.
53' - RED CARD (POR) - After going in for a tackle against Plata, Timbers midfielder Victor Arboleda was shown a straight red card and the Timbers went down to 10 men.
55' - 56' - RED CARD (RSL) - Two minutes later, Beckerman and Adi collided near midfield. In the ensuing scuffle, Toledo issued straight red cards to both, leaving Portland with nine players and visitors 10 men for the rest of the match.
61' - CHANCE (POR) - Blanco found space in the RSL box and ripped a shot from close range that Rimando tipped over the bar.
68' - GOAL (RSL) - Albert Rusnák hit a shot off the Portland crossbar that deflected into the net to make it a 3-0 lead for RSL.
80' - GOAL (RSL) - Plata scored his second goal of the game to make it 4-0 for Real Salt Lake.
90+3' - GOAL (POR) - Timbers midfielder Jack Barmby scored his first goal of the season with a shot from 35 yards away that bounced past a diving Rimando and make the score 4-1.
