CARSON, Calif – Midfielder Sebastián Blanco scored a second half goal but the Portland Timbers lost 2-1 to the LA Galaxy in the opening game of the 2018 MLS regular-season at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.

The Galaxy's scored a pair of goals in the first half with Ola Kamara opening his account in the 32nd minute and Romain Allessandrini scoring two minutes late.

1' - SAVE. Timbers goalkeeper Jake Gleeson was called upon very early with a diving stop from a drive from LA's Giovani dos Santos.
21' - CHANCE. The Timbers had a good chance of their own as Diego Valeri pressured LA goalkeeper David Bingham to force a turnover deep in the Galaxy end. Andy Polo picked off the pass, fed to Valeri, and then got it back on a give-and-go. Polo's ensuing shot was on target but saved by Bingham.
32' - GOAL. The Galaxy scored first when forward Ola Kamara chested into the net a headed pass from Rolf Feltscher. Galaxy led 1-0.
34' - GOAL. LA doubled their lead on a counter as midfielder Romain Allessandrini pounced on a loose ball that had pinged off the right post and hit it in for a 2-0 Galaxy lead.
66' - GOAL. The Timbers pulled one back as Fanendo Adi's hold up play allowed him to spring Sebastián Blanco on the left wing. Blanco dribbled towards the endline before hitting the ball through Bingham's legs to cut the deficit to one.

85' - CHANCE.David Guzmán rocketed a free kick from just outside the LA 18-yard box to the left of the net but Bingham went to his right to parry the shot away.
90+3' - CHANCE. On a corner into the box by Guzmán, Valeri got a foot to the ball, Bingham bobbled it, but it was then cleared away by the Galaxy defense.
Portland travel east next week to take on the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena on March 10 (4pm PT, ROOT SPORTS).
