PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC today announced that the teams are freezing concession prices – representing no price increases from last season – across the board at Providence Park in 2019, as the iconic venue is reopened this summer following an $85 million, privately funded transformation project. Adding to the excitement this season, the Timbers and Thorns FC are introducing a series of “Park Pricing” games, presented by Coors Light, during Wednesday and Thursday evening games, offering $2 hot dogs, $2 nachos and $5, 16-ounce cans of Coors Light for four Timbers games, and two Thorns FC games in 2019.
“We are all incredibly excited for this summer’s relaunch of Providence Park, and are very pleased to add to that excitement with today’s announcement that concession prices will remain the same as they were last year, and with the introduction of the new Park Pricing nights,” said Mike Golub, president of business for the Timbers and Thorns FC.
In 2019, the special Park Pricing, presented by Coors Light, will be featured for Timbers home games on Thursday, July 18 (Orlando City), Wednesday, Aug. 14 (Chicago), Wednesday, Sept. 18 (New York Red Bulls), and Wednesday, Sept. 25 (New England), with reduced prices on hot dogs, nachos and Coors Light being offered throughout the stadium. Thorns FC home games on Wednesday, July 24 (Houston) and Wednesday, Sept. 11 (North Carolina) also will offer the same discounted Park Pricing options.
Following extensive road trips to begin their respective seasons due to completion work at Providence Park, the Timbers and Thorns FC will mark the official reopening of their home stadium over the first weekend of June. The Timbers will play host to Los Angeles FC on Saturday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific), while Thorns FC mark their home opener on Sunday, June 2, when they take on the Chicago Red Stars at 3 p.m. (Pacific).
Originally built in 1926, Providence Park has undergone an extensive transformation for the 2019 season, most notably with the addition of more than 4,000 new seats on the eastside of the venue to raise the capacity to more than 25,000. The significant investment represents a complete relaunch of the historic stadium, as the project includes extensive enhancements to the entire venue, including: a state-of-the-art video board/scoreboard that measures more than two times larger than the previous board, new LED field lighting, new locker rooms for both the Timbers and Thorns FC, a new team store, new and refreshed concession stands and concourse amenities on the westside of the stadium and additional ingress/egress gates.
