1x1A Little Bit of Both â€“ Alvas Powell had a part in both first-half goals. On the first, the Jamaican defender dribbled the ball from the halfway line, weaving his way through defenders, before firing home. Powell's cross in the 23rd minute found Diego Valeri, giving Powell his second ever match with both a goal and an assist.

2Double Trouble – Playing his first ever match in Portland, midfielder Cristhian Paredes assisted on two different goals. It is the only time in his three seasons with the Timbers that the Paraguayan international has had multiple assists in a single MLS match.

55Career Mark â€“ On Portland's third goal, Valeri earned a secondary assist for his 55th regular season assist, which placed him in a tie for most assists ever by a Timbers player. The midfielder currently has 81 assists, 26 more than any other Timbers player ever.

15Home Cookin' – The victory ensured a continuation of the club's long unbeaten streak in home openers. Dating back to Portland's time in the USL, the Timbers went 15 straight home openers without a loss with a record of 10-0-5.

1Surprise – In his 68 regular season games with Portland, defender Larrys Mabiala has one career assist. Mabiala's assist came when he spread the ball wide to Powell, before Powell slalomed his way to the goal.
