PORTLAND, Ore. – Despite taking 22 shots, the Portland Timbers lost 1-0 to Minnesota United FC Saturday night at Providence Park.

2' - GOAL (MIN) - Minnesota United went out to an early 1-0 lead as Emanuel Reynoso split the Timbers defense with a pass to forward Fanco Fragapane. Fragapane then squared a ball to midfielder Adrien Hunou atop the six-yard box who knocked his shot into the back of the net.
12' - CHANCE (POR) - Midfielder Eryk Williamson made a nice tackle on the ball at the middle of the pitch and switched directions into attack. He passed to Diego Valeri on the edge of the Minnesota penalty area but the midfielder's lofted shot was just over the bar.
33' - HYDRATION BREAK
38' - SAVE (POR) - Minnesota's Niko Hansen got around his defender and hit a low shot on target but Timbers goalkeeper Steve Clark dove to his right to make a nice save.
45+3' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland kept pressing with defender Larrys Mabiala upfield. He dribbled through a Loons defender on the edge of the area before slipping a pass to Valeri. Valeri took a touch, spun and fired a low shot that was inches wide of the right post.
46' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland defender Claudio Bravo, on the left, sprang Williamson into the box. Williamson slipped his defender, cut to the middle but his shot was just wide of the left post.
49' - CHANCE (POR) - The Timbers kept generating a flurry of chances in the early minutes of the second half. Williamson dribbled straight down the left channel and passed a ball towards forward Jeremy Ebobisse in the six-yard box but a Minnesota defender made a last-ditch clearance. A minute later, Valeri found space in the area, pirouetted and hit a low shot forcing Minnesota goalkeeper Tyler Miller to parry away.
52' - SAVE (POR) - Clark made a spectacular save acrobatically knocking away a spinning, side-footed shot by Hunou.
54' - SAVE (POR) - Clark again kept things close when he sprawled to his left to deny Niko Hansen.
63' - CHANCE (POR) - Bill Tuiloma made a nice play to feed Williamson down the left sideline. Williamson's long cross found a speeding Ebobisse in the box but his one-timed shot went over the bar.
76' - HYDRATION BREAK
84' - CHANCE (POR) - Bravo, making an interception on the left-hand side, dribbled diagonally into the middle of the field. He took a curling, left-footed shot that Miller tipped off the right post and away. On a follow-up cross into the box, Ebobisse's glancing header went outside the left post.
89' - CHANCE (POR) - Timbers midfielder Dairon Asprilla fired a shot from the left towards the upper right corner that went wide.
