PORTLAND, Ore. --- T2 forward Fatawu Safiu has been named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 16 after scoring a goal in T2's 3-1 win over Arizona United on Thursday.
Fatawu's goal in the 14th minute gave T2 a 2-0 lead over Arizona, and came just four minutes after Kharlon Belmar scored the game's opening goal.
Fatawu carried the ball on an 80-yard run from the top of T2's defensive 18-yard box to the top of Arizona's, before playing a give-and-go with Andy Thoma, getting the ball back, and finishing past Arizona goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski.
T2 (6-8-2, 20 pts) play at Vancouver Whitecaps 2 on Friday, July 10, at 7 p.m. (Pacific). A live, high-definition webstream of that match will be available at timbers2.com.
