Portland earns additional point with 7-6 shootout win

HILLSBORO, OR. - Timbers2 and North Texas SC played to a 2-2 draw at Hillsboro Stadium Sunday evening. Selmir Miscic and Ismaila Jome both scored and assisted each other in the second half to end regulation in a draw. With the match ending in a draw, the two teams went to a shootout to determine who would earn an additional point. Portland prevailed with a 7-6 shootout win to earn two points from the match. Dawson McCartney, Carlos Vivas, Jamin Gogo Peters, Julian Bravo, Selmir Miscic, Justin Rasmussen and Ismaila Jome all converted their kicks from the spot.

Goal-Scoring Plays

NTX – Hope Avayevu (Collin Smith), 14th minute: Collin Smith crossed the ball from the edge of the 18-yard-box to Hope Avayevu near the penalty spot, who accurately placed the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal. 

NTX – Bernard Kamungo (Jose Mulato), 49th minute: Bernard Kamungo doubled their lead after Jose Mulato pulled away from half field on a breakaway and passed it to Kamungo in order to beat the goalkeeper and score on an open goal.

POR – Selmir Miscic (Ismalia Jome), 49th minute: Jome found some space in the corner of the field to beat his man and serve a cross to Miscic on the back post, who brought the ball down with his chest and buried the ball into the back of the net. 

POR – Ismalia Jome (Selmir Miscic), 74th minute: Miscic crossed the ball into the box, which fell to Jome at the back post leading to a simple tap in finish.
