T2 defender Brent Richards has been named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 25 after scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Rio Grande Valley FC on Sept. 10 at Toro Stadium, snapping Rio Grande Valley's 10-game unbeaten run.
Richards, who tallied his first goal of 2016, scored the deciding goal in the 61st minute when his low-driven left-footed strike from outside the penalty area made its way into the lower left hand corner of the net. Richards also helped Portland pitch its second straight shutout and fifth overall on the season. With his goal, Richards is now the 13th different T2 player to score a goal in 2016.
T2 (9-14-4, 31pts) return to action tonight, taking on Arizona United SC (8-12-7, 31pts) at Peoria Sports Complex; kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific).
