T2 defender Lamar Batista was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 25 of the 2017 season after helping Portland earn a shutout against Real Monarchs SLC in a 0-0 draw on Sept. 9 at Providence Park.
Batista, who has made 18 appearances (17 starts) this season, recorded three interceptions and five clearances in the scoreless draw against Monarchs SLC. This marks the first time this season that Batista has earned USL Team of the Week honors.
Additionally, midfielder Renzo Zambrano was named to the Team of the Week bench. Zambrano recorded game-highs in tackles (5), fouls won (5) and possession gained (15). T2 are unbeaten in three of Zambrano’s appearances this season since signing with the club on Aug. 22.
Next up, T2 will travel to face Reno 1868 FC at Greater Nevada Field on Saturday, Sept. 23; kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (Pacific).
