Dawson McCartney tallies first goal of 2023 season
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Facing a quick turnaround after a midweek home victory, Timbers2 fell on the road 6-1 to Sporting KC II at Rock Chalk Park on Sunday evening. Dawson McCartney tallied the lone goal for Portland, registering his first goal of the 2023 campaign.

SKC – Alenis Vargas (Lucas Rosa), 8th minute: Kansas City quickly switched the point of its attack to find Lucas Rosa near the right edge of the box. Rosa delivered a cross to Alenis Vargas at the top of the six-yard box for the sliding finish.
SKC– Alenis Vargas (Josh Coan), 24th minute: Josh Coan played a perfectly-weighted through ball into space for Vargas, who got in behind the Portland backline. Vargas dribbled to the top of the box and sent his shot into the bottom left corner of the goal.

SKC– Josh Coan (Ozzie Cisneros), 76th minute: Off a free kick near the right-side line, Ozzie Cisneros received the ball just inside the box, turned near the six-yard box and laid the ball off for Josh Coan, who slotted the ball into the left side of the goal.
POR – Dawson McCartney (penalty kick), 86th minute: SKC II committed a handball in the box. Dawson McCartney attempted the penalty kick and fired his shot into the bottom right corner of the goal.
