Portland earns additional point with 5-4 shootout win
PORTLAND, Ore. - Timbers2 and Whitecaps 2 played to a 2-2 draw in regulation on Wednesday night at Providence Park. Selmir Miscic and Ian Shaul scored a first-half goal each for the Timbers with assists from Victor Griffith and Sawyer Jura.
With the match ending in a draw, the two teams went to a penalty kick shootout to determine who would earn an additional point. Portland prevailed with a 5-4 shootout win to earn two points from the match. Tega Ikoba, Diego Gutierrez, Justin Rasmussen, Dawson McCartney, and Carlos Vivas all converted their penalty kicks from the spot.
