Midfielder Dairon Asprilla was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 10 of the 2019 season after tallying a second-half brace in T2’s 4-1 win on the road against Tacoma Defiance at Cheney Stadium on May 12.
Asprilla, on loan from the Timbers, scored his first goal of the match after blasting his penalty kick attempt underneath Tacoma Defiance goalkeeper Bryan Meredith in the 49th minute. The finish marked Asprilla’s second penalty kick goal of the 2019 USL Championship season. Asprilla completed his brace in the 61st minute when midfielder Eryk Williamsonslid him down the right side of the penalty area, with the Colombian midfielder's low shot being placed into the far corner of the net to give T2 a 4-1 advantage.
It marks the second time this season that Asprilla has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week after earning the honor in Week 3 for tallying two goals in a 3-1 win against Las Vegas Lights FC on March 23. Additionally, the award marks the sixth time in 2019 that a T2 player has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week. Asprilla's four goals in 2019 rank tied for first on the team with forward Foster Langsdorf, who also scored a goal in the win at Tacoma.
Next up, T2 will play host to El Paso Locomotive FC on Saturday, May 25. Beginning at 7 p.m. (Pacific), the match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
