Midfielder Eryk Williamson was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 4 of the 2019 season after recording two assists in T2’s 3-2 loss on the road to LA Galaxy II at Dignity Health Sports Park Track & Field Stadium on March 30. Additionally, Portland Timbers Academy forward Gio Calixtro was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week bench for his two-goal performance, becoming the youngest player (18 years, 9 months, 3 days) in T2 history to register a brace.
Williamson, on loan from the Timbers, earned his first assist of the night after he fed Calixtro just outside the edge of the box; Calixtro powered his shot into the lower right corner of the net past LA goalkeeper Eric Lopez to score his first goal of 2019. Williamson tallied his second assist of the night when his off-balance pass inside the penalty area to Calixtro was poked past Lopez to complete the academy product’s brace. The assist marked Williamson’s fourth of the 2019 USL Championship regular season, which ranks first in the league.
Additionally, Williamson is the third T2 player this season to be named to the USL Championship Team of the Week after Dairon Asprilla (Week 3) recorded two goals and an assist in a 3-1 win over Las Vegas Lights FC on March 23 and Marvin Loría (Week 2) scored two goals in a 3-1 win over San Antonio FC on March 16.
Next up, T2 travel to face OKC Energy FC at Taft Stadium on Saturday, April 6. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. (Pacific), the match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
