Strong start to 2019
In four matches in the month of March to start the 2019 season, T2 held a record of 2-1-1, including a 1-1-1 record on the road. Portland enters the match tied for third in the league in goals scored (9) after scoring multiple goals for a third consecutive game. Marvin Loría and Dairon Asprilla and Timbers Academy forward Gio Calixtro are tied for the team-lead in goals scored (2), while Foster Langsdorf (1 goal, 1 assist) ranks fifth on the team in points. Additionally, Eryk Williamson ranks first in the USL Championship with four assists, while Harold Hanson ranks tied for fourth in the league in tackles won (9).
Two-goal performances
T2 have had three different players register braces for the club in three consecutive weeks dating back to March 16, when Marvin Loría scored two goals in a 3-1 road win against San Antonio FC. Dairon Asprilla scored tallied two goals in a 3-1 win against Las Vegas Lights FC on March 23, before Timbers Academy product Gio Calixtro recorded a brace against LA Galaxy II on March 30. Calixtro (18 years, 9 months, 3 days) is the youngest player to record a brace for T2 in team history.
USL Championship Team of the Week
Midfielder Eryk Williamson was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 4 of the 2019 season after recording two assists in T2’s 3-2 loss on the road to LA Galaxy II at Dignity Health Sports Park Track & Field Stadium on March 30. Additionally, Portland Timbers Academy forward Gio Calixtro was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week bench for his two-goal performance, becoming the youngest player (18 years, 9 months, 3 days) in T2 history to register a brace.
Portland against OKC Energy FC
In seven all-time matches between T2 and OKC Energy FC (2-1-1, 7pts), T2 trail the series 3-4-0. Portland is 2-1-0 in three matches on the road against OKC. In the last meeting between the two clubs in Oklahoma City, T2 defeated Energy FC 3-0 at Taft Stadium on April 7, 2018, with Foster Langsdorf scoring in the win for Portland. The match on Saturday marks the first of two regular-season matches between the two teams, as they will face each other again at Providence Park on Friday, August 16.
