PORTLAND, Ore. – Playing their third of a three-game home stretch, T2 play host to Tulsa Roughnecks FCon Saturday, Aug. 22, at Merlo Field; kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (Pacific).
T2 (9-12-2, 29pts) enter the weekend in eighth place in the USL Western Conference standings and sit seven points shy of the final playoff position with five games remaining on the regular-season schedule. In their last match, Portland earned a 3-1 win over Cascadia-rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Aug. 16 at Merlo Field as forward Kharlton Belmar registered a brace and Brent Richards added two assists in the win. T2 have posted a 6-5-0 overall home record in 2015, while registering 21 goals in 11 home games in their inaugural season. Portland plays three of its final five matches of the regular season at home.
Belmar pushed his team-leading totals to 11 goals following his third brace of the season in the win over Vancouver. Belmar ranks tied for fifth in goals (11) and points (25) among all USL players. Richards was named to the USL Team of the Week following his two-assist performance against Vancouver. A native of Camas, Wash., Richards has logged one goal and two assists through 11 games with T2.
T2 face Tulsa Roughnecks FC (10-9-6, 36pts) for the second time during the regular season on Saturday. In the last matchup, Portland registered a 3-1 victory over the Roughnecks on May 30 at ONEOK Field in Tulsa, Okla. T2 received a second-half brace from Michael Nanchoff and a goal from Belmar to earn a win on the road.
Tulsa Roughnecks FC enter Saturday’s match after a 2-2 draw against Louisville City FC on Aug. 15 at ONEOK Field. Tulsa has compiled a five-game unbeaten streak (3-0-2) and has posted a record of 5-3-4 on the road in its inaugural season. Roughnecks FC rank tied for first in goals (46), first in saves (127) and first in shots (343) among all USL teams. Tulsa is led by forward Sammy Ochoa, who has registered eight goals and three assists in 24 games. Midfielder Chad Bond ranks tied for second in assists (8) among all USL players through 21 games played, while goalkeeper Zac Lubin ranks tied for third in saves (73) through 15 games played.
