PORTLAND, Ore. – Playing the first match of a three-game road swing to close out the 2017 USL regular season, T2 will square off against LA Galaxy II at the StubHub Track & Field Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 7. Set to begin at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific), Saturday’s match will be available via a live, high-definition web stream at www.timbers2.com.
Saturday’s contest marks the second and final match between Portland and Galaxy II this season, with T2 sustaining a 4-3 loss to Galaxy II at Providence Park on July 9. Among five all-time matches between the two clubs, T2 are undefeated in two matches against LA at the StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium. In the last game between the two teams in Carson, Calif., on Aug. 6, 2016, Portland earned a 4-3, come-from-behind victory over Galaxy II.
T2 (3-20-6, 15pts) enter Saturday’s match looking to build off a 1-0 victory over Cascadia-rival Whitecaps FC 2 at McLeod Athletic Park on Sept. 30. Portland midfielder Victor Arboleda recorded the game-winning goal, his fourth of the season, in the 68th minute when Whitecaps FC 2 goalkeeper Spencer Richey spilled the ball on the edge of the penalty area, allowing Arboleda to quickly pounce and slot the ball into the empty net. T2 goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh earned his first shutout of 2017, tallying six saves in the match.
LA Galaxy II (7-18-5, 26pts) head into Saturday’s contest following a 3-0 loss to OKC Energy FC at Taft Stadium on Oct. 1, which extended four-match losing streak. LA sits in 14th place in the Western Conference standings and carries a 3-8-4 record at home this season. Forward Justin Dhillon leads the team with six goals, while midfielder Adrian Vera is the club’s second-leading scorer (5).
Following Saturday’s match, T2 will travel to face San Antonio FC at Toyota Field on Wednesday, Oct. 11; kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. (Pacific). The Oct. 11 match, originally scheduled for Aug. 26, was rescheduled due to Hurricane Harvey.
