PORTLAND, Ore. – Playing the first game of a two-match road trip, T2 will travel to face San Antonio FC at Toyota Field on Saturday, Aug. 26. Set to begin at 5:30 p.m. (Pacific), Saturday’s match will be available via a live, high-definition web stream at www.timbers2.com.
Saturday’s match marks the second and final meeting between the two clubs in 2017, with Portland falling to San Antonio at Providence Park on April 28.
T2 (2-18-3, 9pts) enter Saturday’s match following a 2-1 loss to Cascadia-rival Seattle Sounders FC 2 on Aug. 17. After Seattle took the lead in the 58th minute, T2 equalized five minutes later from midfielder Jack Barmby’s service from a corner kick. Barmby, who finished the match with a game-high six chances created, whipped in a cross just outside the six-yard box that found midfielder Bill Tuiloma, whose strong header was powered into the back of the net. The goal marked Tuiloma’s first of the season. Seattle scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute when forward Henry Wingo cut inside from the left wing and curled his shot past T2 goalkeeer Wade Hamilton into the far corner of the net. Midfielder Villyan Bijev leads the team with seven goals, while defender Marco Farfan and midfielder Omar Mohamed are tied for the team lead in assists (2).
San Antonio FC (12-2-9, 45pts) enters Saturday’s contest after a 1-0 win at home over Whitecaps FC 2 at Toyota Field Wednesday night. San Antonio is undefeated at home this season (6-0-6) and sits in second place in the Western Conference standings. Forward Billy Forbes leads the team in goals (7), assists (5) and chances created (27). In 18 appearances this season, goalkeeper Diego Restrepo ranks first in the USL with 10 shutouts.
Following Saturday’s match, T2 will travel to face Rio Grande Valley FC Toros at H-E-B Park on Wednesday, Aug. 30; kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (Pacific).
