PORTLAND, Ore. – Playing their third home game at Providence Park this season, T2 will face Cascadia-rival Seattle Sounders 2 FC on Thursday, May 26; kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (Pacific).
The match on Thursday marks the first of four regular-season meetings scheduled between T2 and Sounders FC 2 in 2016, as both teams are set to meet again Tuesday, June 14, at Providence Park, and Sunday, July 24, and Monday, Aug. 29, at Starfire Sports Complex.
T2 (3-6-1, 10pts) enter this week’s home contest looking to bounce back after falling 3-1 to Whitecaps FC 2 at Providence Park on May 20. Recording their highest shot output in a game this season, T2 pulled a goal back in the 27th minute when midfielder Neco Brett finished from the edge of the six-yard box, marking his third goal in the last three matches for Portland. Two days later, Brett, the Timbers second-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, made his MLS debut in Portland’s 4-2 win against Cascadia-rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC on May 22, coming on as a stoppage-time substitute.
After playing to a 1-1 draw against LA Galaxy II on May 22, Sounders FC 2 (1-5-4, 7pts) venture into Thursday’s match winless in their last four matches. Forward Victor Mansaray, who last scored against OKC Energy FC on May 1, leads Seattle in points with two goals on the season. Five different players have scored for Sounders FC 2 in 2016, with forward Nkongo O’Ojong, defender Tony Alfaro, midfielder Aaron Kover and forward Oalex Anderson each recording goals through the club’s first 10 games.
Single-game tickets for T2 matches are available at the Providence Park box office, online at www.timbers2.com, and on game day at the venue box office. Additionally, Thursday’s match will be available via a live, high-definition web stream at www.timbers2.com.
Next week, T2 travel to Idaho to square off against Swope Park Rangers on Saturday, June 4, at Rocky Mountain High School in Meridian, Idaho, located just outside of Boise; kickoff is set for 6 p.m. (Pacific)/7 p.m. (Mountain).
