PORTLAND, Ore. – Heading into Week 7 of the 2017 USL season, T2 will travel to face Cascadia-rival Seattle Sounders FC 2 at Starfire Stadium on Friday, May 5. Set to begin at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific), Friday’s match will be available via a live, high-definition web stream at www.timbers2.com.
The match on Friday marks the second of three matches between the two clubs in 2017, as both teams will meet again Friday, Aug. 18, at Providence Park. In the first matchup between the two teams this season on April 2, T2 fell 2-1 to Sounders FC 2 at Starfire Stadium.
T2 (1-6-0, 3pts) enter this week’s contest looking to bounce back from a loss to San Antonio FC on April 28 at Providence Park. Heading into its fourth road match of the season, Portland is looking to improve on its last win on the road following a 2-0 victory over Sacramento Republic FC on April 22 at Papa Murphy’s Park behind goals from midfielders Victor Arboleda and Villyan Bijev. Individually, Bijev and forward Augustine Williams are tied for the team lead in goals scored (2).
Sounders FC 2 (3-4-0, 9pts) enter Friday’s match following a 3-2 win on the road over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on April 29. Seattle currently sits in seventh place in the Western Conference standings, and have a record of 1-3-0 this season at Starfire Stadium. Forward Felix Chenkam, who last scored a brace in the 3-2 win over Switchbacks FC on April 29, leads the team and ranks tied for fourth in the USL in goals scored (3). Midfielder Ray Saari and defender Brian Nana-Sinkam are tied for the team lead in assists (2).
Following Friday’s match, T2 will play host to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Wednesday, May 10, as part of Providence Health & Fitness Day; kickoff is set for 11 a.m. (Pacific).
