PORTLAND, Ore.– In advance of its trip to Portland, famed Mexican side Club América today announced its travel roster for its upcoming international exhibition against the Portland Timbers at JELD-WEN Field on Thursday, July 7; kickoff is 8 p.m.

Highlighting Club América’s travel roster is forward Ángel Reyna, a member of Mexico’s 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup-winning squad. Reyna led Mexico’s Primera División in goal scoring during the 2011 Clausura campaign, tallying 13 goals in 17 games.
Other key players on the travel roster for Club América include veteran defender Oscar Rojas, who has over 200 career appearances with the club, and goalkeeper Armando Navarrete; both led Club América to the 2006 FIFA Club World Cup. The travel roster also features forwards Vicente Sánchez and Matías Vuoso, who ranked among the club’s scoring leaders from the previous tournament, and midfielder Daniel Montenegro, who has six caps with the Argentina National Team.
Club América is led by head coach Carlos Reinoso, who has coached at the top levels in Mexico since 1981. He recently led Club América to the round of 16 in the 2011 Copa Libertadores tournament; the Copa Libertadores is regarded as one of the premier tournaments in South America. Reinoso starred in the midfield for Club América from 1970-79 during his playing career, helping the club win two league titles (1970-71, 1975-76), the 1974 Copa Mexico and the CONCACAF championship in 1978. Reinoso also played for the Chilean National Team and represented his country in the 1974 World Cup.

One of the most successful clubs in Mexican soccer, Club América has won 33 total championships since its founding in 1916. The club boasts 14 league championships, winning their most recent during the 2005 Clausura season. Club América is a five-time winner of the CONCACAF Champions League and competed in the 2006 FIFA Club World Cup. The club recently competed in the 2011 Copa Libertadores, reaching the round of 16.
