As part of our inaugural group of ticket holders, Chris and Leilani Barron won the chance to have a VIP experience for the Portland Timbers vs. LAFC home opener match, including KeyBank Club seats, and a chance to visit with Timber Joey on the field!
We asked Chris a few questions after the match.
What was your first memory of/first match supporting the Timbers?
"I went to an NASL Timbers game (I believe in 1978 when I was 9). But my first MLS Timbers game was flying to Denver for Portland's first MLS match against the Rapids on March 19, 2011. That's an all-time memory, hanging with the Timbers Army, making new friends and watching the team play its first game."
What was your favorite moment of the match tonight?
"Brian Fernandez's bicycle-kick goal was incredible! That not only gave the Timbers a chance to tie the game, but electrified the crowd. What a moment."
Who would you nominate as Player of the Match?
"The unsung hero of the team, Diego Chara. He was all over the field, shut down scoring chances and set the tone for how the Timbers should play from the start. Most underappreciated player in the MLS."
What is your prediction for the next MLS match – Timbers vs Seattle for the US Open Cup?
"I live in the Seattle area, so a Timbers' win vs. our hated rival is important. I'll be there in Tacoma and predict a 3-2 victory for Portland."
What else should we know about your Timbers fandom?
"I grew up in Coos Bay, OR and developed a love for the NASL Timbers early on. The great goalkeeper Mick Poole made an appearance at our youth all-star soccer game in 1979 and I was hooked for life. He was larger than life for me. Now living in the Puget Sound, I remain as dedicated to the Timbers as I always have and make it to as many games as I can (sitting in the fabulous South Deck section). I'm truly proud be RCTID."

Congratulations Chris and Leilani! And thank you for your continued support!
