Back out on the road for a second straight match, the Portland Timbers overcame a goal from the Houston Dynamo in the 16th minute to earn a 1-1 draw at BBVA Compass Stadium with a 33rd-minute equalizer by Gaston Fernandez to pick up a point on the road. Back in the lineup for the Dynamo after an extended absense, Brad Davis set up the opening goal by Will Bruin with a cross from deep in the left corner.
The Timbers, who held 68 percent of the posession in the first half, were able to equalize in the 33rd minute on Gaston Fernandez's third goal of the season. It was a series of passes that set up midfielder Kalif Alhassan for the final ball into the box for Fernandez.
Timbers goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts recorded four saves against Houston, three of which came in the opening half.
The Jamaica international came up big in the 70th minute for his lone save of the second half, smothering a dangerous chance for Bruin.
