Portland Timbers midfielder David Guzmán wrapped up his time with the Costa Rica national team at the 2017 Copa Centroamericana this past weekend in Panama. Costa Rica took fourth place in the tournament behind Honduras, Panama and El Salvador with all four teams having now locked up a spot in this summer's 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The biennial international tournament crowns the champion of the Central American region organized by the Central American Football Union (UNCAF).
Guzmán appeared in four of the five games (three starts) of the round robin style tournament including tallying an assist on Jose Ortiz's goal via a pinpoint corner kick in the Ticos 3-0 win over Belize in their second match of the tournament.
Next, Guzmán will join his new Portland teammates in Tucson, Ariz. as the club begins their 2017 preseason.
