Colombian defender to join the U-23 national team ahead of 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament
PORTLAND, Ore. – Timbers defender Juan David Mosquera was called into the Colombian U-23 Men’s National Team for the FIFA international period in January ahead of the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament, the Colombian Football Federation announced this week.
Mosquera will join Colombia on January 3 for training camp in Barranquilla, Colombia, to prepare for the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament in Venezuela. Colombia is set to face Ecuador (Jan. 20), Brazil (Jan. 26) Venezuela (Jan. 29) and Bolivia (Feb. 1).
Mosquera has made appearances for Colombia’s youth and senior national teams. The defender made his debut with Colombia’s senior team on January 28, 2023, when he started in the match against the U.S. Men’s National Team logging a full 90-minute performance. Most recently, Mosquera joined the senior national team for the fifth time in his career in December, logging two 90-minute appearances against Venezuela and Mexico. In September, the defender received a callup into Colombia’s U-23 Men’s National Team to play two friendlies against Mexico to prepare for the 2023 Pan American XIX Games and the 2024 South American Pre-Olympic Tournament.
