AUSTIN, Texas – The Portland Timbers lost 3-1 to Austin FC Saturday night on the road at Q2 Stadium. Scoring for Portland was midfielder Dairon Asprilla who earned his fifth tally of the 2021 season.

11' - PK GOAL (ATX) - Austin went up 1-0 in the 11th minute as Cecilio DomÃguez converted a penalty kick. Referee Guido Gonzales, Jr. awarded the penalty after a VAR check for a foul in the box from Portland defender Josecarlos Van Rankin.
14' - GOAL (ATX) - Austin's Nick Lima chipped in ball from the edge of the area found Diego Fagundez on the back post to head into the goal to put the Timbers down 2-0.
24' - CHANCE (POR) - On a Portland corner kick, it was played out to Pablo Bonilla. The Timbers defender lofted a cross to the back post that Dairon Asprilla headed down but it deflected off Bill Tuiloma and just wide of the right post.
29' - GOAL (POR) - While a shot came in that went past Steve Clark only to have Tuiloma save it off the line, Portland was unable to clear the ball and Sebastián Driussi scored to make it 3-0 for Austin.
37' - CHANCE (POR) - The Timbers patiently worked the ball down the left channel with Diego Chara combining with his brother Yimmi. Yimmi Chara hit a hard shot that Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver was forced to parry away.
43' - CHANCE (POR) - The Timbers went out on the break as Asprilla stole the ball away deep in Portland's own end and darted downfield. He chipped a ball over the defense for Felipe Mora but the forward's sharp-angled shot hit the side netting.
46' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland's Sebastián Blanco, having come on at halftime, threaded a ball through the Austin backline for Yimmi Chara. Chara made it to the endline and cut a ball back to the middle but Blanco's one-timed shot was wide.
50' - SAVE (POR) - Austin's Driussi fired a shot from the edge of the Timbers' 18-yard box but Clark quickly moved to his right to punch the shot away.
55' - GOAL (POR) - Portland pulled a goal back as Asprilla took a thunderous strike from the top of the Austin box that beat Stuver in the lower corner. The goal was set up as Larrys Mabiala stepped forward to win a ball at midfield. He then played it to Diego Chara who in turn, sprang a pass forward to Asprilla.
60' - CHANCE (POR) - Timbers kept the pressure up as Blanco crossed a ball in that Yimmi Chara jumped to head down towards the low corner but Stuver made a diving save to knock it away.
