The Portland Timbers (9th, 12-10-9, 45pts) are back in the Rose City for their final two home matches of the 2024 regular season. Following a tightly-contested 1-1 draw at Vancouver on Saturday, the Timbers now face a battle with Texas in their next two games.
First up is a midweek matchup with Austin FC (11th, 9-13-9, 36pts). With three days of rest, the Green & Gold take on Los Verdes before taking on FC Dallas three days later.

The Opponent: Austin FC (11th, 9-13-9, 36 pts)
Los Verdes are nearing the end of an up and mostly down 2024 season, where they failed to make themselves known for the majority of the year in a competitive Western Conference. Despite shocking the continent in Leagues Cup by slaying two of Mexico's giants in Pumas and Monterrey in Group StagepPlay, once the MLS season resumed, head coach Josh Wolff's squad could not replicate that level of play. They have only registered one win since their Leagues Cup participation, and it came right after their Round of 32 exit. In their last five matches since, they are 0-3-2 and with three regular season games to go, are nine points from the ninth and final playoff berth currenlty held by Portland.
Colombian forward Jáder Obrian leads Austin in goals scored and total contributions with seven goals and four assists. DP Sebastián Driussi has added five goals with two assists and midfielder Alex Ring has contributed to nine goals (2g, 7a) to round out their three best offensive performers this year. Defenders Julio Cascante (3.6 clearances per game) and Brendan Hines-Ike (1.3 blocks per game) lead the club defensively while Brad Stuver is the main man in goal this year, having played every single minute in MLS thus far.
