The Portland Timbers (9th, 12-11-9, 45pts) have one more showdown at home before the 2024 MLS regular season comes to an end. They host FC Dallas (11th, 10-15-7, 37pts) just four days after their loss to Austin FC on Wednesday and are looking to shake it off by securing the final Western Conference spot in the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs.

FC Dallas are officially out of the running for the postseason, but that doesn't mean interim head coach Peter Luccin's side should be underestimated. In one previous meeting this season on the Fourth of July, Portland lost 3-2 in Frisco, with Sunday's match the second and final between the two in 2024.
