PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers, down to 10 men for the final 35 minutes, fought to a 3-1 loss Wednesday night at Providence Park against Norway's Viking FK in the Timbers Preseason Tournament, presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky.
Portland's 2022 MLS SuperDraft first round pick Justin Rasmussen scored a spectacular goal in first-half stoppage time for the Timbers' lone tally.
The Timbers side featured five different Academy players – Mitch Ferguson, Alex Moreno, Ian Shaul and Milo Wray – as well as four different MLS SuperDraft selections – Rasmussen, Diego Gutierrez, Sivert Haugli and Dawson McCartney.
The preseason tournament finishes on Saturday, Feb. 19 with Viking facing Minnesota United FC at 2:30pm PT, while Portland hosts Real Salt Lake to close out the tournament at 5pm PT (TICKETS, Webstream at Timbers.com).

11' - GOAL (VIK) - Viking took a 1-0 lead as forward Veton Berisha, out wide right, threaded a cross into the box for midfielder Kristoffer Løkberg to finish.
23' - SAVE (POR) - Portland goalkeeper David Bingham made a quick reaction save in traffic as a Viking player headed a shot down on goal from close range.
25' - SAVE (POR) - Bingham made a one-handed save to deny Berisha's far-post header following a Viking corner kick.
36' - GOAL (VIK) - Viking went up 2-0 following a strange series of events. After a questionable penalty was given to Viking for a Portland foul in the box, Berisha's attempt was stopped by a diving Bingham. However, Løkberg headed the rebound into the goal.
45+1' - GOAL (POR) - Just before halftime, Portland pulled a goal back as Justin Rasmussen, unmarked on the left side, chested down a looped cross from defender Josecarlos Van Rankin and then volleyed his shot into the far side netting to make it 2-1.
55' - RED CARD (POR) - The Timbers went down to 10 men when defender Pablo Bonilla was given a straight red card.
71' - GOAL (VIK) - On a Viking corner kick, defender David Brekalo headed the cross into the back of the net to put the visitors up 3-1.
