After dropping two straight matches for just the third time in the last three years, the Portland Timbers are looking to rebound when they take on D.C. United Wednesday night at Providence Park (7:30pm PT, ROOT SPORTS). Here are five numbers to know for #PORvDCU in the latest Quick Strikes by Simple.
39 Before being traded to Portland prior to the club’s MLS expansion season in 2011, Rodney Wallace spent his first two professional years with D.C. United. Wallace, who played 39 games for United, has had success against his former club having both a goal and an assist against D.C.
3-0-4 In MLS play, Portland is undefeated at home when it plays on Wednesday nights compiling a 3-0-4 record in seven matches since becoming a MLS team in 2011. In fact, since the club’s rebirth in 2001, the Timbers have dropped just one home league match on a Wednesday (15 matches).
27 Since making his debut with the Timbers on July 14, 2014, defender Liam Ridgewell has started each and every match for Portland. The 27 consecutive starts ties Michael Harrington for the club record for most consecutive MLS starts by a defender.
6 Ridgewell isn’t the only Timbers player to start every match this season for Portland. In fact, he is one of six players who have started all 12 matches this season for the club. No other MLS team has more than four players who have started all their club’s matches this season.
