Mosquera goal, Portland defense gives Timbers important Cascadia win over rival Seattle.
PORTLAND, Ore. – Juan Mosquera fired home a goal in the 55th minute and the Portland Timbers defense held firm as the home side defeated rival Seattle Sounders FC 1-0 Saturday night at a soldout Providence Park.
Goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau made four saves to pick up his first clean sheet of the regular season and Portland extended their home unbeaten streak to 11 matches. With the victory, the Timbers jumped up to sixth place in the Western Conference as well as moved into second place in the Cascadia Cup standings.

Juan Mosquera tallied his first goal of the season tonight. The defender has started in all 27 of Portland’s matches, notching a goal and five assists in MLS play. Additionally, Evander recorded his team-leading 16th assist, setting a new MLS record with an assist in eight consecutive home matches. The Brazilian midfielder extended his run of games with a goal contribution to eight, recording five goals and eight assists in that span.
