Using goals from Maxi Urruti and Gaston Fernandez, the Portland Timbers secured victory as the hosts knocked off the Houston Dynamo 2-0 in front of a rowdy Providence Park crowd. Including Tuesday's extra-time win over the Seattle Sounders, the club is now on a five game winning streak across all competitions. Here are three #StatMan takeaways on the win.
365 Portland's defense again delivered the shutout, marking the fourth straight clean sheet at Providence Park for the Timbers. The club has held opponents without a goal for the last 365 minutes of league play at home. It was the seventh shutout of the season for the team and goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey.
4 The Timbers have now won four straight matches for the first time in their MLS history. Portland becomes the second MLS team this season with a four-game winning streak and has outscored opponents 7-1 during the run.
3 For the second consecutive game, Jorge Villafana notched an assist after delivering a free kick to the head of a Portland teammate. Villafana is the first Timbers defender to have an assist in back-to-back matches in MLS and is tied for the team lead for assists in 2015 with three.
